He had a dream to become a pro surfer. This was starting to look like a possibility as his surfing progressed and he started to win contests. That all changed at age 15 when he was diagnosed with a condition in his back that would require major surgery.
After having nine pieces of metal installed, and three vertebrates fused, Taylor knew he had a decision to make. He could either have his mind and body work for him, or against him.
Taylor decided to overcome this challenge through dedicating his life to improving his mental and physical well being.
In Taylor’s own words, “I learned that I was going to have to work a lot harder than everyone else. So I went into fitness as much as I could.”
As teenage surf buddies, Taylor found a natural fit in partnering with his friend, and accredited trainer, Paul Hiniker.
Together they have spent thousands of hours studying and experimenting with techniques to help people surf better and for longer.
“ARC Method was created so I could surf the way I always dreamed to surf.” says Taylor.
The culmination of their success is brought to you in this ARC Method Course.
Paul Hiniker was born in Carlsbad, CA where he developed his passion and high level of ability for board sports. While many of his peers were chasing magazine covers and contest wins, Paul decided to hit the books and dedicate his like to a better understanding of the body.
Paul currently holds a Master's Degree in kinesiology, he is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and a personal trainer. His never ending thirst for knowledge has yielded multiple certifications in DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization), and as a holistic health practitioner. He is presently furthering his education in developmental kinesiology through the Prague Institute of Rehabilitation.
Besides working with Taylor to create the ARC Method, Paul has trained many other elite athletes such as golfer, Rory McIlroy, skateboard legend, Danny Way, and 3x Iron Man Champion, Norman Stadler. Whether you are an elite athlete, or just someone trying to live long time without pain or discomfort, Paul's knowledge is here to help you.
As if his professional accolades aren't enough, Paul was a professional breakdancer who has performed in the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. He throws buckets and gets tubed with the best surfers. Perhaps more impressive, Paul is one of few 50+ year-olds who still skates vert and can boost huge airs. Paul might just be the most interesting man in the world!
